Based from the documentary " A leader's legacy, Tun Abdul Razak" and some of my superior and close analysis discovery on the topic I realize that our current prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib is continuing his father's legacy in affirmative action in giving special privileges towards the Malays and the Bumiputera's. There are several reasons and justification that might support my point of view.
First of all, Najib in a conference meeting in Putrajaya stated in Berita Nasional News, stating that the government are giving out RM13 billion Ringgit to bumiputera citizen who owns their own business through 'Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera' (Teraju). Thus giving the opportunity to bumiputera's to improve their and the country's economic status. Such opportunities are not given to other races such as the Indian and the Chinese in particular.
Secondly, Najib allowed president of the Malaysian Malay Chamber Of Commerce (DPMM), Syed Ali Alattas to provide 30% of the government contract only for the Bumiputeras. This gives jobs opportunity and political advantages to the Bumiputeras to develop Malaysia and also an aid given through the New Economic Policy.
Thirdly, Najib's New Bumi Foundation Education targeted to raise funds as much as RM500 million to funds 12 000 Bumiputeras within 5 years in order to pursue their education in order to raise their skills, knowledge and work experience. "The focus will be on training and developing professionals in high-pay and great potential sectors." said Najib which stated by the reporters in BERNAMA National News Agencies.
Last but not least, even until up to this very day, Majlis Amanah Rakyat or MARA still provide cheap education and financial aid towards Bumiputeras who wanted to start to do business. If Najib didn't continue his father's legacy surely he would have abolished MARA and the bumiputeras will have a hard time in gaining a higher education and business easily. The existence of Mara Professional College and Mara College for Bumiputera high level education and multiples of entrepreneurship programs in business conducted by Mara supports such justifications. Thus helping to improve the Bumiputera society itself.
In conclusion, despite of recent changes in Malaysia over the past few years, our current Prime Minister, Najib Razak still continues his father's legacy who is Tun Abdul Razak in affirmative action.
What are the privileges that he gives for Malays and Bumiputras only?
